Aka, should I be following SpaceInvaders share config? The SpaceInvacers guidelines on YouTube are two years old now, so unsure if there is a better mythology for share and cache config, especially now that UnRaid 6.12.0 stable with ZFS support will be released any day now. If anyone is using UnRaid in a similar fashion that I plan to use, I would appreciate any insight\feedback on how you configured your UnRaid server in terms of share and cache config, in addition to getting a definitive answer if hardlinking would be useful at all if you are only downloading content via UseNet and never seeding. My UnRaid server will primarily be used for local Plex streaming, however I may allow a small handful of family or friends to access my library remotely. The following apps – SABnzb, *arrs apps (Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Powlarr, etc) & of course Plex Media Server.Media Streaming – Plex, but may also try Emby or Jellyfin in the future.

  • UseNet downloads – TV shows, movies, and music.
  • My UnRaid server will primarily be used for the following: (15) TRaSH Guides, UseNet, Share Config and Cache Pool – hoping for insight : unRAID () I had put a similar post on Reddit about a month ago to get some insight but was still left somewhat confused.

To me, this makes sense, however I also know this share configuration will not work hardlinking, but do I need to worry about hardlinking? I haven’t found any suggestion that hardlinking is beneficial if you are not torrent seeding. I assume SABnzb should be able handle being the “mover” and move the unpacked files over to the appropriate shares in the array. Let me know if this share structure makes sense:Īrray (Media share set to Cache – No?) \Mediaĥ12GB NVME Cache (set to cache only?) \Processing

My plan is to use the 1TB NVME drive as a cache drive for appdata, domains, ISOs and system, with the cache setting for appdata, domains, and system to Prefer, and ISO with the cache setting to Yes (following SpaceInvaders cache configuration), and then use the 512GB NVME to aid in performance for unpacking the downloaded UseNet files. My current UnRaid server has the following drive configuration: AKA, does hardlinking only benefit when you are seeding? I haven’t found a definitive answer if the TRaSH share config guides offer any benefit using the *arrs apps for UseNet when you are never planning to Torrent seed.

My question is, do I still need to follow the TRaSH guidelines for share and cache pool configuration? I do plan to use all the *arrs apps – Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Powlarr, etc, plus will switch from NZBGet over to SABnzb, as I hear the NZBGet is no longer supported (which is sad as I really liked NZBGet). So, I want to configure my UnRaid server share and cache drives with the mindset that I am never going to seed content. Once I discovered UseNet and NZB’s, I have never looked back. I haven’t used torrents in over 15 years. The one thing I have yet to sort out and haven’t found any sort of definitive answer to the following - I am not using torrents and have no plan to ever use torrents to get content. My plex server is mostly configured, however I just need to sort out my share configuration and cache drives. I have been working on a UnRaid server config to replace an old Linux server I use for NZBget, Sonarr and Plex.
